LT1 starter removal

I have a 95 camaro with the LT1/6spd. I got all the wires off the starter and i can't find a way to get it out..the car has bbk shorties and y pipe, and it seems to be impossible...anyone that has done this, please tell me i am not crazy. does something have to be moved?

If you cannot turn/tilt the starter in any position to get it by the y-pipe, the pipe will have to come off.
