  • audio line input

    hi,
I am trying to play a portable device (iPod) through my car speakers. I have been using the FM broadcast attachment (iTrip), but it just isn't powerful enough. I would really like to try to build an audio line input jack into my car stereo, so that I can connect a portable device directly to the stereo, without trying to broadcast it. I have a 97 camaro RS stock radio, but if you could just tell me the sort ofthing I should look for..I can probably figure it out. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

    thanks for your time,
    josh

Im trying to do the same thing with my iPod.

      This is what I found:
      1) My Fm Modulator was weak (iRock). Didn't like it for listening to my audio-books

      2) I tried the plugging the mini RCA jacks in to the input RCA jacks in the back of Sony xplode radio. no luck the jacks are for a CD changer and didn't "talk" to my iPod. (CD changers will die off quickly once people can fit 200 CD's on something the size of a deck of cards and access it through their car radio)(my opinion).

      3) this is an option I found that "talks" to your CD changer controls.

      4) this is what i am looking forward to now that I am in the market again (since my radio, amp and speaker boxes were stolen last weekend!).

      Hope this helps.

If you have a Sony radio you can add Sony XA300 Unilink Auxiliary Input Adapter, it has inputs for USB, additional audio channels etc.
