Ok, wondering something about the GN. anyone know if the cold idle is supposed to be really low, like almost (and sometimes is) dying? I don't think so but my dad swears it did that even when he bought it. It didn't do it for a while until he had the upper-motor worked on (timing sprocket stripped doing 80). Once its warm, it idles fine. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not familiar with what type of injection system is used on the GN. However, being an '80s design, it likely has some kind of an idle control valve. This would be an electrically controlled valve (controlled through the engine management computer). It lets air bypass around the throttle body (metered air) and controls the idle speed.
In the cold, during warm-up it is open more to keep the idle up ... just like a fast idle cam on a carb. As the engine warms up it closes down to a smaller opening. It also opens more when the A/C is turned on or the trans is put into Drive , etc.
Could be your issue...

Its an SFI setup, similar to the F-Body SFI setup with MAF and all. I've seen on gnttype.org that a good amount of 87's did that, but that it could be the PROM or, as Gordon said, the TPS. Any other suggestions will be much appreciated. Thanks a bunch for the input guys.Steve
