  • even more CME pics (not happy with install)

First, let me say I took these pics right after I got home from the muffler shop; I did not clean anything in preparation, so please be kind.

Got the new CME tips installed and it looks like they did a good job of aligning them properly, or at least evenly. For comparison, here is from the factory:

After the exhaust modification, which resulted in the tips being broken and welded together.

And finally, after the new tips were installed this morning.

Here are a few more pics from different angles:

Here’s where it gets ugly. Now, the guy told me they didn’t have stainless elbows (which I was reluctantly prepared to live with), they have “aluminized” which I figured would match the aluminum tips somewhat (shoulda ordered stainless elbows from SLP), but I didn’t expect an apparent diameter loss, which I didn’t notice until taking pics.

This one is on the left side, where the muffler shop’s elbow meets the exhaust tip.

This one is on the right side where the muffler shop’s elbow meets SLP’s exhaust.

Damn, the more I look at these pics, the worse they look. Any recommendations?

new elbows. the restriction wont effect the flow a ton being that far out and that they are that close to the exit. however you will never be happy with them. on a good note that guy laid one h@ll of a weld on there.

I was thinking the same thing.... nice welding!

Really though, the two pipes being slightly smaller will have absolutely no effect on performance. Keep in mind that this is all coming off of a single 3" intermediate pipe.

Hahaha - You guys read my mind also - nice welding. Next time, buy the stainless and cut it to size the way you want it, then bring it to that guy!

Looks pretty good to me. Besides the reduction in diameter what are you dissapointed with, the looks?

Hardly any one will look that close under your car.

I'd agree... The guy did a great job. The smaller diameter pipe there will not hurt performance.

I think it looks fine but if you don't go get it done again the way you want. If your not happy with it now though you'll just be more disatisfied with it everytime you look at it so get it done the way you think is right. Looks good to me though IMHO.
