    1. Not all cars run the same.
    2. Not all drivers can drive well. Therefore you can't judge all cars by one race.
    3. C4 cars run 13.50s give or take
    4. C5s (No one even said anything about Z06s) run low 13s to high 12s with a good driver.
    5. There's more to a car than 1/4 mile. There is handling, braking, comfort, ergomonics, top speed, etc. I think you get the picture.
    6. No one's said anything about an LS6 yet!
    7. Once you start modding, all rules go out the window.
LS15 Power! Another LSx engine coming soon.

      One exception.....
1991 had the rounded new body, and the L98.

Indeed, you are right. It has the newer style dash too.

Performin normin is totaly right, Its all up in the air.
I personally have only ran two LS1's, One we were dead even, and the other, Pulled away wile I was in 3rd , And then wile in 4th
I pulled back up,The guy said he was impresed, cuz he saw my car was stock......In any case I think LS1's are a good match up for me.

Here is the lowdown on the C4s and C5s.

The C4 from '85 to '91 had the L98 TPI 350. In '86, they put aluminum heads in the convertible and some of the coups. My '86 has the aluminum heads. From '84 to '88, they had the optional 4+3 tranny which is a 4 speed with an overdrive attached to it. In '89, they went to a six speed. In '90, they went to the new dash. In '91, they went to the updated front and rear with the square rounded taillights. In '96, they had the optional LT4. '97 started the C5 LS1 era with the Z06 following I think two or three years latter.

In stock Trim with a good driver:

The L98 4speed C4s are incredibly fast off of the line, and pull hard to about 60-70mph; better handling in the turns. They will stay with you until then, and then the L98 chokes up...you will pull ahead and keep going. It has great low and midrange power, but the intake dies on the top end. The TPI was incredible in the early 80s, but it is 20 years old now. Without mods, it is a sitting duck for the newer cars. The LT1 6speeds and autos move, and they will be equal to you; probably faster to 80mph; better handling in the turns. The LT4s are quick...low thirteen cars...it would be hard to beat. Also, from '90-'95 they built the ZR1, LT5 cars...don't bother...they run 12s straight from the factory; much better handling in the turns. LS1 Vettes are low 13 cars; and blistering on a road course. LS6s run 12s, and they are blistering on a road course. Z06 performance will be standard on the C6 debuting this spring with a 500hp model on the horizon. I love my '97 f-body as I am sure you love your Stang; but Vettes are in another world. The only way to beat a modern Vette...stock for stock...is to race one with older technology...even then it can be difficult unless you move up to the SC Cobra, but it still lacks in comparison on the road compared to a Z06. However, that SC Cobra was probably the first pony car that gave the Vette a run for its money. If it wasn't for the old Phoenix platform (McPherson Strut Design), it would be a "real" all around contender.
