It really would help if you would tell us your mods so we can tell you if you really need an LT4 knock MODULE.

Ideally a stock LT1 motor running on 92+ octane shouldn't sense much knock if any at all. However, sometimes false knock is interpreted by the LT1 km and can persuade the PCM to retard ignition timing by as much as 22 degrees. Retarded ignition timing = lost horsepower.

The addition of such things as headers, aftermarket timing sets, or roller rockers can create additional harmonics which can be falsely interpreted as engine knock (pre-ignition/detonation). So if you have done any of these mods or are just experiencing knock period then yes it would be worth $40 for the LT4 km.

How are you determining that you are getting false knock? A scanning device such as the "LT1 scanmaster" will greatly help to determine this. It will display such things as degrees of retard, 02 sensor mv values, and over 20 different PCM modes. See if you can't borrow one from someone

The car will recover faster after a shift. Don't expect HP improvements, it will simply prevent HP loss. Personally, I think it's a good investment in driving pleasure.
