Once you get the 3.73's I think 13.50's are definitely within reach.

      agreed.

I used to run 13.69 with a 95 Z auto fitted with ultraz ramair, SLP TOTL exhaust, TB Bypass, TB airfoil, 1LE shaft, underdrive pulleys and a HPP programmer. It had the stock 3.23 gears

        ??

I thought stock fbodies ran mid-13's off the assembly line.

        or is that just LS1's?

Well, considering the '94 Formula made about 275 hp and weighs 3500+ lbs I think 13.5 or a little better is pretty close with his mods.

Yeah, if you aren't there already, you will be with 3.73's. If you are having traction issues you might want to step up to some bigger wheels and stickier tires.

My 93 Formula 6spd went 13.8s stock...added some little goodies (chip, my own ram air, TB, Flowmaster, gutted cat, airfoil) and shaved off a little more. once I learned how to powershift, i got it to 13.6s and a few 13.4s...gears, M/T Competitors and 6,000 RPM launches (not to mention 5 rears!) netted me 13.0s and a 12.99 (no flaming! LOL)...a few more hot rodding tricks (bypassing the TB coolant lines, 4.10s vs 3.73s, 10lbs vs 14lbs in the tires sway bar , 1.6 rockers) got me my one and only 12.68 and more consistant 12.90s and 80s...

mph went from 102 and change up to 105~106...this was back in 93 - 94 so I don't remember exact number and don't have any timeslips that old...but a few guys in Newark spied on me at the track in my old street racing days and got my times off other timeslips, lol...

but that's about it. Now I hafta try it all over again with this 95 I just picked up over the weekend.

I guess I got a factory freak or something, but the 94 Z28 I just bought runs 13.5 - 13.6's on the quarter mile. Only mods are Hurst Short Throw Shifter, ColdAir intake and the air foil for the throttle body, it's an Lt-1 with a 6-Speed.

Factory M6's have an advantage versus factory A4's due to the fact that with a M6 you can launch at any RPM you want. Also considering the M6 driver can shift consistently well. The high RPM launch of the M6 can drop you as much as 4 to 5 tenths compared to a stock auto considering you have a sticky enough tire.

Redbird I'm not sure of your cashflow but you could go with a set of 1.6 roller rockers and a much looser torque converter. Say around 2400-2800 stall. These two would greatly improve your ET's

Sorry to bust any bubbles, but two equally equipped f-bodies, one with an auto and one with a manual, the auto will win every time. The auto cars launch harder because they can preload the rearend whereas us manual guys have to feather out of the hole to keep from breaking rearends.

Even with 12 bolts, the auto cars are faster because of the preload effect. There's a heads and cam full bolt on automatic LT1 at our track running within a .1 of my sprayed stick car, and I make 75 more HP at the tires with my setup. Auto is the way to go if you're drag racing.

Just to clarify that an auto will ET quicker, the manual will have a slightly higher trap speed all other things being equal. I was in the 13.5 range with factory 3.23s and bolt ons with a stock converter but worked trans. Now I hover around the 13.0x ET with 3.73s. It's going to take either headers or a converter to get me into the 12s.
