you will see lots of 3 character codes. the one that starts GU is the axle code.
Find it and look it up on the net by sticking it in a search engine.
Here is a pic of my option sticker....
On the far left you see code GU6, that is a 3.42 ratio. G80 is limited slip differential.Tracy

later 4th gens have the options sticker in the drivers door. my A4 SS came with the 3.23 rear, which is RPO GU5. (I created this pic to help someone determine if their SS was authentic, that's why the WU8 RPO is inverted)
