  • rear-end noise

Hey guys, I'm new here to this site. I have a loud screeching/rubbing sound coming from the rear of my car when I make a turn. Any ideas on what it might be???

Two thoughts, one, are clutches in the limited slip wore out or two, the fluid is low causing them to chatter when turning. Have you checked the fluid level in the rear end?

Thanks for the input!!!!! I have the stock 16in wheels, so that's not a possibility, just changed the rear-end fluid, thought that would help, but the noise is still there. Maybe the brakes are rubbing? Hopefully not the limited-slip! But if it is the limited-slip, anybody know where I can get a good deal on a set of 3:73's and an after market carrier.

Did you put the GM additive in when you changed the oil? Without it you will have the symptoms you describe.

Could be an outer axle shaft bearing. When mine went, it was a rumble/growl that was pronounced in turns.
