  • I riced out my PC yesterday..

I needed to add another case fan to lower the temps just a bit.. I got a 120mm case fan that flows like 65CFM. While I was at it, I got a green neon light, and a piece of plexiglass. I was dremeling it all ###### day, and finally got it.. Looks pretty hot, better in person though! It looks a little dirty in the pics.

The top two pics are how it looked this morning, the bottom three are it now.

Anyways, I manged to lower my temp 5°c or so, which is good.

My system specs if anyone cares:

    P4 2.4ghz overclocked to 3.2ghz
    Asus P4PE motherboard
    512mb PC2700
    ATI 9600XT 128mb vid card
    CD/R
    DVD/R
    100gb HD
99 SS, MTI Lid, 3.90 gears, Hurst shifter, DMH 3" e-cutout

That's great. I went to Micro Center looking for RD ram the other day and they had a boat load of cases with neon lights and plexigalss covers. My daughter wanted one but the case with PS was $200. Wow! That's a set of sub frame connectors.

Is the fan blowing in our out?

The power supply blows out. Additional fans should blow in so they arent fighting eachother.

The 120mm side case fan blows air inside the case. I also have a front fan blowing air in, and a rear fan blowing air out. So, two in, one out, and one of the ones in is huge.

I am thinking of making the front fan blow out also, and just the big side one going in.. Or maybe just get another exhaust fan in the back. Not sure..

lol - You need to seek professional help! I think winter is taking it's toll on the need for mods. Looks cool though. I wonder if I would get into trouble for hacking my computer apart at work?

No, these people need to seek some help.

Water and electric shouldn't be together. I don't care how good it cools. it has antifreeze in it so it doesn't freeze, which I heard it will get that cold.

ya know, liquid cooling is my next step if I can't get the temps down a lot with air.. Though, I heard you need a really really REALLY good liquid kit ($$$$) to get the temp down really low. I hear a good aircooling kit is just as good and less expensive.

              We'll see. ..

Ok, so you worked on it all day and spent some $$s on appearance mods and in the end it was 5° cooler. Yes, I'd say it's a typical ricer type mod ...

Do you have any filters on it to prevent the dust and whatever else to go in?

                    haha, 5°c = ~11°F!

                    That's some more MHZ baby!

                    hahaa

Black97 - yeah, dust filters on each intake fan. You can see it a bit in the bottom pic on that huge fan.

Hey if you could succeed in getting your processor and mainboard down to absolute zero (-460 F) you might come close to the UCSD supercomputer at 1.7 THz (1.7 trillion instructions per second)!
