  • Has anyone ever installed one of these?

I am thinking of purchasing a new top dash pad, my dash pad has a big crack in the middle. Has anyone ever installed one? how did it turn out?

    Thanks,

I installed one on my 95Z. It looks a little different than that. It is just velcrowed on. You have to take the piller cover off both sides and it pulls right off. Mine just crumbled into about a dozen pieces trying to get it off.

BTW where are you looking to get it from? I asked a junk yard and they wanted $150 for a used one. I just happened to stop by a dealer and they wanted $146 so thinking that was a good deal I bought it. Now I find out I can get it mail order for less than $90 from www.gmpartsdirect.com .

UV rays play havoc on these things. Like I said, mine crumbled. I would buy it new. Remember, this one is 5 years old already. Mine crumbled after 7. Yours has cracked after 7 and I bet it will crumble when you go to take it out.

If you look on the bottom it has 7 round velcro contacts and 4 press in clips. These all just press in place once you have the pad in place.

I'm not sure about camaros, but I did not have to remove my plastic A-pillar covers to remove the dash pad on my T/A. Your firebird and my T/A share the same dash pad.

At gmpartsdirect, it is often the "plus shipping" that is the real killer. They can be ruthless.

The box this thing comes in is HUGE! It weights like 2 pounds though. It probably gets an oversize premium .

If the ebay one looks good go for it. I lucked into one for $15 on there last spring. The guy put it in a wood box because he said he had a few crack while being shipped before you might want to ask for that or atleast make sure you get insurance.

I have purchased parts from this seller before. Real nice guy. If you have a question as to its condition you can email him. He will answer back. As for shipping, I can't help you there. I picked mine up from him as I live about 40 miles away.

Are you searching for a part number or a title like "dash pad". It won't search anything but a part number. Go here http://www.abrinoperformanceengineer...T1%20%20stuff/ to download the pdf file for part numbers.
