  • New tires ordered

I just placed an order for 4 Firestone Firehawk SZ50EP tires from Tirerack. I got the 285/40ZR17 size to go on the new 17x9.5 ZR1 rims I just purchased last month.

$710.00 at my front door. not bad.

I heard in another thread that they were no longer on Firestones website so I figured I better order them before they are gone.

Your only .5 inch small. You'll probably be ok, but I wouldnt go any smaller than that. I hear of people puting 315's on 9 inch rims. I think they are nuts, but they claim it works fine. I'm sure there is damage getting done to those tires they are unaware of.

I'll make sure i get some pictures posted after the installation. The car is sitting in a garage at an empty property I own. I'm driving it to Florida on April 11 for a cruise to Mexico, Grand Cayman and Jamaca after we camp 3 days in Key West.

      I CAN'T WAIT !!

Hwy 1 down to Key West in a convertible 6-speed Z is going to be incredible!

I just got mine last week. I'll store them in the garage for another month or two as mine still have some tread left. As soon as the rain season starts here in Florida, they will be on there for sure. Too bad I couldn't score the same price as last time. That was $85 per tire from Tirerack. Should have bought several sets at that price, but they were only the SZ50s, not the SZ50EP. Still one hellova buy!

I just got a call from Brandon at Tirerack. He was checking on the size I ordered, saying it it a little bigger than what they normally sell for a 94 Z28.

I told him I had special rims for them and it was OK. He said he'd process the order immediately.

          Awsome service.

The same guy called me this morning.

I found other posts that say the 285's will fit fine on 9 inchers on all 4 corners.

            I'm feeling alot better now.......
