  • I love it when new parts show up....

Got my package from Ryan at Macewen Motorsports today, and all I can say is wow. I did not believe that these were this easy to do. It looks great and his quality is excellant. He also includes with some of the kits a new bezel from the later T/A's that is modified to fit the earlier cars. It seperates the gauges and really makes the dash look very slick. I will get pics of it installed when I take it out next. Too dark in the garage to shoot good pics.

I like it! I've been thinking about doing this to match all my Phantom Meter gauges...let us know how it all goes.

How tough was the install? Looks pretty easy...

After reviewing the site, I liked them so much I ordered a set for myself and ordered the new bezel and lens kit.

Now all my guages will match, the phantoms won't stick out so much...thanks for the link!

      Sweet looking.

I know what you mean. I have a ram air hood and a SLP fan switch at home to be installed.

I'm currently working in Cincinnati and have a 12 disk cd changer and other small stuff sitting in my suitcase until I'm done and heading back home.

Boy I sure hope spring is coming early this year.

Not that bad. The instructions were well written and the hardest part was getting the gauge assembly out from behind the steering column. It says that you can remove the tilt lever to help this...., well my tilt lever was installed with about 900 lb/ft of torque, so it wasn't coming off. Took maybe an hour and a half, and I was being really anal about getting everything lined up just perfect. The overlays are designed to be put on w/o taking the needles off, which is the #1 reason I chose Macewen. After doing this, and seeing the results, I would recommend these to anybody.

          Got a kit coming...

I'll have to post how it all looks with my other gauges when I get them and install the kit.

I might be the only one but I think the stock look is much better.

Actually I DO like the looks of the stock dash...but I had to get white faced autometer gauges so I can read them at a VERY quick glance (going down the track), the black on red made that difficult (at least for me)...I have 3 Phantoms and will probably be getting a Phantom 5" tach because the OEM tach is too inacurate for me at this point in the game.

My only reason is for doing it so that I have a uniform look to my gauges. It's something thats been bugging me for a long time, but I was unhappy with any other kit I've seen. This one looks like a winner to me.

I've seen some of the white face gauges that light up blue when its dark. I think those look pretty nice, if there was any way I could change the color they lit up without making the exterior white I'd be all over it.

                  Firebirds & T/A's

Problem with the Pontiacs is that the red actually comes from the gauge face, not the lights. So that means that in order to change the color, you have to eliminate the factory lighting all together. That can be a tricky deal. Camaro owners can change their color with different bulbs in the gauge cluster, and Macewen sells high intensity xenon bulbs that look great. For us Pontiac guys, however, red is the way!!! I've always loved the red color at night.

I like the look of the stock gauge cluster but I like the look of the white faced gauge cluster even better! Looks really good with Autometer Ultra Lites.

Are they red at night? I saw some white faced overlays on ebay that still keep the red look at night...I was wondering how good they actually worked.

                          Both answers.....

Yes they light up red at night. They are pass through for the light. The red comes from the stock gauge face, not the bulbs so you are stuck with red for teh most part.
