  • Original Wiring Colors

This ones for all the stereo guys out there.

I bought my friends old crappy x-plod head unit the other day and installed it with little trouble- exept having to take quite a bit apart just to get to the bose. but anyway, i hooked it all up and it lit up and all, but when i put a cd in it wouldnt play. i could see the track title and the song playing but it wasnt coming trough the speakers.

I need to know the factory wire colors, and maybe the sony colors and what each of these goes to. Any thoughts would be helpful.

    Thanks

Well, not quite sure about the factory GM wiring, but most aftermarket harnesses follow this scheme...
    Yellow- Battery
    Red- Accesory
    Black- Ground
    Blue- Power Antenna
    Blue w/line- remote
    Orange (pink)- Illumination
    White- Left front pos
    White/Blk- left front neg
    Gray- Right front pos
    gray/blk- right front neg
    green- left rear pos
    green/blk- left rear neg
    purple- right rear pos
    purple/blk- right rear neg

    Aha!
    GM--
    Dark Blue- RR+
    Light Blue- RR-
    Brown- RL+
    Yellow- RL-
    Light Brown- FL+
    Gray- FL-
    Light Green- FR+
    Dark Green- FR-
The best thing to do would be to go to one of the local audio shops and pick up the harness that changes factory wires into the aftermarket standard colors... then splice the sony plug to it...

if you have the bose system, its a whole lot harder, i believe.
