    hooker

    random technology
    1994 firebird formula

no need to talk. i can walk the walk.

I used to have the flowmaster, seemed to flow good, nice growl too it, now i have the loudmouth, which i prefer. I liked the flowmaster, don't get me wrong, that was with my last Z, now i have a different one so i went with the loudmouth.

I have similar concerns about waking neighbors up with a daily driving car. I have a Thrush CVX exhaust muffler that I bought with my 1998 TA. I bought the car 1 year used and the original owner put it on. Has a nice very low but resonating growl. Right now though I am looking at buying SLP headers and a Borla Catback. Some of my friends recommend Flowmaster a lot. I just like the fact that Borlas mufflers can be sound adjusted. They look nice also as far as tips are concerned and the warranty is unbeatable. Just my humble opinion.

You actually can tone down the LM to an extent. The one that I bought had a Sweet Thunder muffler on it in place of the resonator and it sounds wicked. Nice rumble, awesome growl but not too loud...until you hit 3k on the tach lol Just a thought...especially since the muffler I have now gives me the room to run the rear driveshaft loop on a Spohn torque arm since the muffler is the same diameter as the int. pipe (3"). Just another way you could do it. Good luck in your decision.

I've had the Hooker cat back on my Formula now for 5 years. I like it. It's loud enough, but doesn't wake the neighbors. I will have to replace the tips this year as they are getting sharp on the edges from the moisture. I wish it was stainless but then it would cost a lot more.

I'm fan of Flowmaster. It's got a nice growl to it without being too loud. You can't beat the sound of the SLP two-on-the-left, IMHO, but when you go stainless steel like that or the borla, it might be a little more expensive than what you're looking to spend. If I had to buy one, it'd be SLP 2 on-the-left, flowmaster, borla... in that order, but I've never heard a loudmouth.

I am a big fan of the SLP totl. It sounds great, but still very tame. I went from it to a the LM and I am very satisfied but I think I should have kept it and just got a cutout instead. A friend of mine has a Hooker cat back and it sounds awesome. Great idle and a nice scream at WOT. On his new Camaro he has Hooker cat back but no cats and it sounds even louder. My other buddy has the same set up but with a flowmaster and it sounds just as good. I have also heard great things about Magnaflow. It is also stainless steel and wont rust. I have never heard it though. My opinion on preference:
                  SLP totl
                  Hooker or Magnaflow
                  Flowmaster
