GU5 is a 3.23 performance rear axle option instead of regular 2.73s. This came with automatics and also provided a manually selectable 1st gear.

Its right there in the middle, you'll get more offline performance then if you had 2.73's, and a decent highway cruising gear. Although I have 2.73's witch are considered the worst gears, my car still pulls of the line quite nicely and I love how quickly it picks up going 70mph. If I planned on taking it to the track, I might consider switching to a higher numeber'd
        gear like yours.

3.23s are better for acceleration through the quarter mile. If you do more high speed cruising and want better mileage or a few more MPH top speed (until you get to the speed limiter anyway) then 2.73s are your bet. I changed mine to 3.73s because what I cared about was acceleration. I don't cruise at high speeds anymore, what I want is to go from 0-85 in a flash.

With the "Z" rated tires, part of the "performance axle" upgrade, you got a 150+MPH speedometer, and NO top speed limiter. Only the base cars without the "performance axle" package had the non-Z rated tires, a 110MPH speedo, and a ~110MPH top speed limit programmed into the computer.

just thought i would add that in

What part isn't true? Did I say that was the ONLY way to get a 150+MPH speedo and no speed limiter? No... I said if you bought the performance axle (G92 on the 1993 models - which is what his is), you got a 150+MPH speedo and no speed limiter. We're not talking about 2.73 gears, and we're not talking about whether he can or can not select first gear. I am simply answering his question about whether he has a speed limiter, and I stand by my statement. If you got the "G92" package - which was mandatory with the "QLC" Z-rated tire package - you got a 150+MPH speedo, and no speed limiter.

Hold on.... before you correct me on the speed limiter.... technically the speed is limited to the "no entry" in the speed limit field in the ECM, which, because it is an 8-bit binary field, carries a default maximum value of "255".

Please explain, what part of my statement is not true, my friend?
