  • 1998 trans am - 2002 trans am

I am currently looking at purchasing a 1998 trans am and I am curious to know what the difference is in horsepower of the 1998 trans am and the 2002 trans am, neither having the ws6 package. What changes were made from 1998 to 2002, in terms of the engine and the car?

    Thanks in advance

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the ram air added 10 hp each year.

These are factory ratings and are far from accurate. GM released low hp ratings so as to not upset the sales of the vette.

I have seen several '02 LS1 powered cars put down 301 to the tire. That is in excess of 350 flywheel hp. And these were bone stock. Paper filter and all. 98's aren't that far behind. Around 340 fwhp stock.
