  • *** PAGING KEN C ***

Ken (or anyone else in the know),

I emailed Ken about some of the mods on his Comp and Firehawk but I'm not sure if the email even made it through, so I figured I'd just ask here and others can chime in if they want.

First, when Ken got his Comp and Firehawk and I was originally on this board, I had a thirdgen, so I never really concentrated on the mods for fourth gens. Now I have a WS6 and I'm trying to rack my brain remembering what he said/did. Here are my questions for Ken:

    1) I remember a long time back you had said you removed some baffles or something from the back of the hood to improve airflow. How did you do this and are they replaceable for when it
    rains? (ie. dremel?)

2)What did you use to modify your airbox? Would something like a dremel, then sanding work?

    3) Your rubber intake from the box to the TB seems different, is it
aftermarket and if so, where did you get it? I know you have the MAF ends and I'll probably be getting those as well but I'm talking about the intake tube itself.

    4) Do you know the GM part # for the LT4 knock sensor?

    5) Can you think of anything else inexpensive (~$50) that might
    give me a performance boost?

    Thanks guys!

I'll let Ken comment on the baffles in the hood......

The airlid can be modified with a dremel or jigsaw, simply remove all the bracing in the center area of the upper lid leaving the outside edge in place. smooth the rugh cuts and you are done.

the rubber coupler to the TB is a fernco 3" pvc coupler available at home depot from roughly $5.

I would also suggest bypassing the hot water lines going through the TB. Some gains to be had here for $0.

thanks joe..im kinda runnin behind today

anyway.. what i did was drill a whole bunch of 3/8" holes in the baffles. ill see if i can find a close up pic. then...i did get caught in the rain a couple of times.. i just popped the screens, and laid a piece of masking tape over the baffle to cover the holes.
