  • lt1 oil leak!!!

yup she won a few but in the end i did it!! i fixed the lt1 oil leak all by my self. just had to borrow tools from my neighbor whos a pro mechanic. but i was excited about it it was hard and i'm sore all over. but its all fixed and so far no leaks! i'm taking it to a mechanic so i can use the lifts for a min to make sure no other leaks. (dont worry hes not touching my baby!) but she runs sooo much smoother its amaizing!! i also took the egr pipe off wraped it in exhaust wrap and then srayed it with 3000 degree heat retaining paint thingy but i drove my car at about 24 hours after i tightened the last bolt to make sure the rtv is cured. and drove it for a good hour in stop and go. i came home and i could grip the egr pipe tightly!! no more heat back thier but i must say, the best thing was when i told the mechanic what i did. wow his reaction was just stunned. LOL! it was great! i'll try and get a pic of where my car goughed my face. needed 2 stitches but nothing big

thatk for all you guyzes help!

this i must say was alot of fun, when you go for teh bolt that holds the egr pipe to the passenger side exhaust manifolr, SPrAY IT WITH LIQUID Wrench first!! it took me 2 hours for that one bolt. i striped it and tried heating it up to loosen the metal around it but then i just used some liquid rench, let it set for 30 min (cleaned my tranny while i was under their (yopu gota make sure you under body looks good and clean so you can show it off to the people as they go under your car ) but i then ended up making my own tool ^.^ it uses a closed end 19 mm wrench about 10 inch leverage, and putting duck tape on one sode of the poenings then securing one of those craftsman bolt out shaved bolt remover, and that did the trick.

but it was alot of fun to get that deep into my cars engine. cleaned the manifold and everythign i could and it urns alot smoother now.

hey just a quick question, are their any other seals on the back of the lt1 engine that might leak the manifold seal and rear main oil seal are replaced and good but is their anythign else?
