  • Which Igniton Coil MSD or Accel?

    Hi Guys and Gals!

I have a 1997 Z28 with 79,000 miles on it. I need an Ignition Coil.

Accel Coil has primary resistance of 0.2 Ohms and Secondary resistance of 6.7kOhms. Output Volts 48,000. Part#140024. Price $41.95

MSD Coil has Primary resistance of 0.5 Ohms and Secondary of 6.5K Ohms. Output Volts is 40,000. Part#8231. Price $39.99.

Both coils are supposed to bolt up to stock Coil position.

    Which one is best?

    Thanks Lee!

I like the Hypertech single connector coils and the Crane Cams Fireball coils which can produce over 60,000 volts!

I've always had nothing but good luck and nice things to say about Accel's products, I've had my Accel coil on the car for over 6 years...never a single problem.

        Just my .02

Your 97 factory bracket will require minor modification, or you can just pick up a 95 or older LT1 coil bracket.

The Hypertech coil is part # 4055
