if you swaped the whole unit it would... but im not one that believes too much in installing "nicely used" ring and pinions in another carrier... you can do it......and sometimes all goes well.... but i wouldnt take the chance. id rather buy a new set. is that what you are talking about?

I think he means the entire differential will be swapped. What I can't remember for sure is that I thought that some had the rear abs sensor on top of the differential, some had one at each end of the axle. I can't remember what was what, I thought traction control cars had them at the axle ends, not on top of the differential. Everything physically bolts right up, you have use the LT1 brakes or you'll have to make other changes as well.

Although the rear pick-up points for shocks, springs, control arms, and panhard rod are the same, the rears are not "plug-and-play" interchangeable. The ABS sensor on the LT-1 rear I is on the top of the differential and is a 3 channel ABS system. The ABS sensor on the LS-1 rear is on the axle and is a 4 channel ABS system. Also, the brake backing plates are different. These can be swapped over if you are willing to remove the axles. Also, be sure that the LS-1 rear does not have traction control.

Except the later year LT1's were also available with the 4-channel ABS/traction control real axle setup. LT1's are not all 3-channel.
And, LS1 ABS-only axle assemblies have the single rear sensor on the top of the housing. Only the 4-channel ABS/traction control cars have the reluctors and sensors on the end of the axles.
In that respect, the LS1 and LT1's are completey interchangeable, as long as both were ABS-only or both were ABS/traction control.
And the number of brake lines connecting to the rear axle assembly from the body will match the number of rear axle assembly sensors.... one line on the 3-channel setups, two lines on the 4-channel setups.Fred
