  • Carburetor for my Camaro

Hey all new member to this site. I have a 1980 camaro with a bored 350 4-bolt, edelbrock intake, forged pistons and a Holley junk bucket for a carb. My questions are as follows, What CFM and brand carb should I put on? Do you know where I can find one? and How much do I need to be looking at for payment?

    Any help will be appreciated

It depends on much more than you listed.

How much power are you making?
how do you drive it? street? strip?

If you are driving it on the street I would recommend a 650 Edelbrock preformer carb for a mostly stock 350. You might go to a 750 if you do headers, ported heads, cam and a nice exhaust. whatever one you get, Get the electric choke kit, too.

If you are wanting a Holley, stay away from the dubble pumper. They are harder to tune. Get a 650 or 750 (depending on build) with vacuum secondarys and electric choke.

I've had a couple Edelbrocks over the years and I was always happier with those than my Dad's Holley. My cars were much more streetable and started easier. My dads took some getting used to and was tricky.

I have never run anything but Holleys so I can't speak to anything else.
      Read these.

I believe Edelbrock bought Carter many years ago. http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/carb_index.html

What do you have on it now? You can rebuild a Holley in less than an hour. They are really simple. Is your intake a square bore or a spread bore?

Hey Joe, this brings back memories doesn't it. LOL

Aiight I already have a cam estimating the lift at around 420, I have an awesome set of headers and I drive it mostly on the street with the occasional visit to the strip. My Bro had an edelbrock on his car and it worked great. Also my uncle swears by them so I may go for the edelbrock now back to the CFM.

        Putting out around 400 HP

I'd use the Edelbrock 750 with electric choke. Get a tuning kit for it also.. jets, springs, rods, squirters... (fun fun fun) Make sure it fits the bore of your intake manifold. You may also want to use a spacer depending on your hood clearance.

This is why I love FI. no tuning headaches. I can drive up into the mountains and my car still runs ok.
