  • Nissan 350Z ..........

going home from work today about 2 hours ago. i come up to a stop sign and notice a new 350Z a the stop sign for me to pull up next to him. it was kind of obvious because it must have taken me 8-10 seconds to pull next to him and he had no traffic in front of him. first thing i notice is two large exhaust mufflers sticking out of the rear body.(not stock) except for the exhaust and some large BBS wheels with huge rubber out back. he rev's at me as soon as he sees me next to him. I'm thinking never raced a 350Z might as well race a modified one. i nodded yes and before i could take a breath we were both off. i told myself if i had a good launch it would be close. i got a very good launch feathered the auto tranny until i got good traction and then i floored it. from the start his front was @ my door, second shift and he's falling back to my rear bumper, by the time i started to slow down and pressed on my break lights at him he was a total of one and a half cars back (@ 80 mph). he follows me to the next light and asks me to pull over. we talked and the guy was very cool. he could not figure out why my 9 year old car put a beating on his 350Z. didn't reveal all my mods to him. he had normal mods, cat back, cold air intake, sweeet BBS wheels and a chip or something on the computer. just wanted to share..

I always hate it when people seem to "underestimate" the power of our LT1s!! Then again, when you beat them, it feels that much better!

That was easy for a V8 LT1 probably spitting out around 315hp versus a dohc Z spitting out around 287hp at the flywheel in bone stock for and on average modified to about 305hp...

About a ten horsepower gain, on top of that you have an automatic which can laugh from a standstill like a rocket verus a 6 speed which even drop clutching and double clutching it up to speed can't get the take off of the auto...

Now they say that Camaros and Firebirds are Low-Tech Cars...

Almost the same thing happened to me the other day. It actually prompted me to drop by the dealer to test drive one. Guess who the salesman was? You guessed it, turned out to tbe the guy that was driving the 350Z that I torched. He immediatly recognized the car and the questions started.....

I dont know why but for some reason, all of the Ricers that I come across always think they can take me on the take off and then admit that I'd catch up later. Why is it that they always assume that can take us on take off??? The only way thats going to happen is if we had some terrible traction problems (which some of do) but with the kind of torque our cars make... Ill have them both in the take off, and long run!
