  • Barf....... A/C is shot.

My suspicions are confirmed, the compressor is toast. It won't pull vacuum. 131K miles, this is the first belt driven accessory to fail. I suppose since I have to do the compressor, then comes all the other stuff like condenser, dryer, long tubes, er..... ya never know. I think I'll do the alternator too, the bearing has been starting to complain. Did I ever mention that I hate working on the a/c?

    Joe,

    sorry to hear that.

I guess that's where it pays to live up north in the cool country called Canada.

It's not all just sunshine down there in FLA.

How often did you use the A/C? I would think in FL, you would use it quite often?

Do F-bodies have expansion valves or orifice tubes?

Joe, have you made sure that the a/c clutch is not going bad? That could cause the lack of vacuum on the low side.

Pressure readings on the high side would not climb above 175 even with a charge. 130K miles of daily driving with the a/c, but the car sat for the last 9 months without using the air. Yeah, I know that's bad, but barely drove the car during that time.
