Man does my life suck. Well, SLP finally sent me my "Ultra Z" ram air hood. I had ordered it back in the summer of 2003, but their hood plant was closed for quite sometime due to retooling or something like that. Anyway after all the wait, my dad goes and screws it up. My dad has worked at a local auto body shop for about 20 years now and he paints and does body work on cars. In fact, he painted my '95 Z28 torch red. So of course, he was going to paint the Ultra Z hood too. I read him the notice that SLP sent with the hood that says "Before hood is primed/painted or hood struts are installed, install hood on car for 10 days prior to body work, prime and painting. If the hood still emits a fiberglass oder, the curing period is not complete. DO NOT perform any body work until the curing is complete." Well, my dad didn't listen. He decided to put the hood in the paint booth and crank up the heat for a couple of hours and then he primered it. Now I have no idea if that was good enough or not. We were supposed to let engine heat and sunlight warm it up for 10 days, but he did that instead, and now its primered. What do you guys suggest I do? Install it on the car for 10 days after its primered? I'm confused.

I think the reason they wany you to keep the hood on your car for 10 days is because as the fiberglass cures it will bend and contort just a little.
When it does this bending and contorting while installed on your car, after the curing process is finished the hood will retain a shape that fits your car.
On the other hand if it is allowed to cure standing alone, it could contort just enough to have alignment or fitting problems.
