I had the same problem with Motorola using Fed-up trying to get a desk top charger for my phone. They must have gotten a lot of complaints because now you can get UPS with Motorola. I will never use Fed-Up again.

I receive a lot of shipments from all of the companies in my current job. The last time I had a problem with Fed-Ex delivering to the wrong office, I calmly told them that this is not that difficult, and UPS never has a problem finding the correct office. The customer Service rep finally paid attention, and contacted the regional office with the right address info. As far as I know, they haven't screwed up since. That company is definitely a case of the head not knowing what the foot is doing. The so-called reps you call very rarely will actually contact the regional office unless they feel their business is on the line.

UPS is the best regardless if the rate is more or less. The driver always hides the package at my house. When I had my wheels and tires shipped, he actually went around to the back of my house and hid them on my back deck. I really like that company, and i have never had a problem. The drivers are drilled to be respectful. I always call with positive feedback too.

Myself and the company I used to work for use mostly Fedex. I have tons of bad stories to tell. On the other hand there a majority of good experiences with them.

They have been fair with me whenever there was a problem, but yelling doesn't get you too far with them.

I had some bad experiences with UPS. The problem is shiping from the US to Canada through customs. UPS ask a percentage of the shipment value for brokerage fees. They screwed up invoices and I ended up getting letters saying I didn't pay even though I could produce the processed checked. It went so far that collection agencies started sending letters to my house. It took about 4 months and several phone calls to UPS to straighten that one out.

No matter who you use, you will have problems at some point. It also depends on your local office or delivery person. Whether they care and go the extra mile like some of you guys wrote. Or just say to hell with it.

I used to have problems with FedEx as well. The original problem was their "you have to sign" rules. I was missing next day air packages from my supplier, which was causing me to not be able to get stuff done on time due to lack of parts. So I wrote a letter, and attached it the next time they left a door hanger on my door. Basically it said that I will not ever sign for something again, and if they don't leave my packages at the door that I will stop using them and my entire company will as well (that was BS, but wanted to see what would happen). Needless to say, I have not had to sign again.

The only other problems I had with FedEx was when they had a substitute driver when the regular guy was out sick. This guy dropped the package off at the wrong house, even though both houses have addresses clearly written on the mailbox. My neighbor (a truck driver) came by the next time he was in and said "um, I got this package off my porch and it's addressed to you". Of course, that was about a week too late!

The last problem I had was when I ordered some subs. For some reason, FedEx showed up to my house in an unmarked white van, backed up the driveway, and started carrying them to the back door. Well, when I looked out the window, all I saw was a guy walking towards my back door, the dog barking, my prox sensor on the Ram Air going nuts, and a big white van with the back doors open. So when I flew out the back door holding a .40 cal Beretta aimed in the general direction of the FedEx guy (yet another sub), you can imagine why I had to give him some clean underwear Actually, it scared the heck out of him and the girl that was helping him, and they immediately appologized for not knocking first. I bet they'll never do that again.

Now my UPS guy on the other hand is the Mack Daddy. Small packages he leaves on the front porch, but big stuff he hides on the carport. He usually gets here pretty late with ground stuff, so I go shoot the shiznit with him out at the truck so he doesn't even have to get out.

Just thought I would let you know that I just went through the exact same problem with my phone (FedEx)...nice two hour trip to the service center through rush hour traffic and $5 worth of gas latter...NICE!!! Of course, they will only deliver from an 8-5 window and they won't change delivery locations to my work. They just lost my coworker's wife's wedding dress..for a month! I didn't bother saying anything because I know it doesn't help, just got my package, and left shaking my head...Big Sigh!!! ...to make matters worse...the phone or service is defective so now after a long ordeal with costumer care, I need to go to the T-Mobile store to have them troubleshoot the problem. After they determine the problem, I need to call customer care again, and have a new phone shipped to me, that I will undoubtedly need to pick up from the service center again "...gotta love it!"

I have had no problems with fedex. I used to use UPS for everything but after deciding to compare prices, the fedex was cheaper by more than I expected and I gave them a try. Been using them for 6 months now with no problems.

UPS was doing the same thing you are all talking about with not leaving a package that was important and making me go pick it up at their depot.

                          Good luck
