Is it the guard vertically along the back edge of the door to protect the door from hitting stuff?... or is it horizontally in the middle of the door?

That can be purchased. It is available in all colors, and has an adhesive back. It sounds like you are doing some restoration work... me too.. I've been fixing the little things, lke you are. It is the little details that make a car look new.

Those are called door moldings and they are pretty inexpensive to replace.

My car is white and those things get nasty all the time. I have found that if you get a wax applicator and scrub them down with wax, then towel off the haze they will shine like new.

The side moldings removed make the car look much better. Use some fishing line to get it started, then use Goo Gone to remove whatever adhesive is left over.

I went to GM parts they want $20 each for the two short pieces that go on the rear quater and fender, they come prepainted though at least in red, when I asked.
