i need some help

launching in an auto,stock torque converter

some cheap performance mods-

like ive said i have a 94 formula A4- SLP CAI,Trickflow intake elbow,tb bypass,and i know these dont do much but a tpis air foil, and flowmaster muffler

oh ya did i mention that im getting 373 installed at the end of the month, this damn snow comes down everytime i have the money then when it goes away its like my money goes with it

anyway i know i need a 160 Stat
im doin a trans flush and filter change
full tune up

any cheap mods that will improve my quarter mile

Don't forget when you get your 3:73 installed you have to break it in. Don't go over 60 MPH or you will heat up the ring and pinion and cause housing and gear damage. Put on at least 100 miles before you beat on it! Trust me I've gone thru 3 sets of gears already and they were all 3:73's!

You can de-screen the maf sensor (free), get under drive pulleys($100-150), lt4 knock module ($20-40), find a friend with some slicks you can use(free), and get a shift kit($150-200).

and why have you gone through 3 sets of gears?

and how big of difference does 273 to 373

The first 3:73 I had I broke the ring and pinion in half after a hard launch. It was a Richmond. I had it for about 8 months.

The second 3:73 I had I blew a bearing. It was a GM gear. It caused so much damage in my housing, I shattered my entire posi unit. It costed me a pretty penny to fix.

I'm on my third set right now and so far so good. I've had it for 2 years now. I had it installed by some other performance shop. I think that was one of the major problems I had with the rest - poor installation. Don't get your 3:73's installed anywhere. Make sure you have them installed by people who do this for a living, not just some mechanic who's itching for a quick buck. Trust me I've learned this the hard way.

You will notice a BIG difference from 2:73's to 3:73's. Your shifts will be faster and your chirps will be harder. 3:73's will affect your gas milage though. I go thru $10.00 a day on gas, believe it or not.
