  • My oil pressure gauge

Have any of you had problems with the factory oil pressure gauge going to 0psi after the car has warmed up? I have already replaced the gauge with an aftermarket one which reads good pressure all the time so I know it isn't the engine.

Sounds like a sending unit possibly going bad.

No, I replaced that twice before I bought the aftermarket gauge! The problem is the gauge or the wirring, but only on that gauge. All the others work great. Just wanted to see if anyone else had a problem or if it is just me.

I've got an issue similar to that with my volt gauge- kinda has a mind of it's own once warm- sometimes reading 8 volts, other times reading something like 16. Been like this for 50,000 miles and checked for alternator function a couple times, so I know it's just a gauging problem. A friend with a 90 RS 305 had the same problem as you- he couldn't figure it out either so he mounted a mechanical gauge on the A pillar. Another with a 85 Iroc used to have all his gauges max out when he shut the car off, then return to normal when he started it. I would say stock gauges are pretty much junk and your mechanical gauge is much more reliable than a "properly" functioning factory one, so personally I wouldn't even bother searching for the electrical demon unless it really bugs you.
