I have a stupid driver story for all of you.
I had just gotten done shooting at the range (I am a police officer) and was on the way to my department to clean my guns (I was off-duty, in my SS). As I was driving down a twisty 35 mph road, I noticed that some blonde bimbo was riding my @$$ so close in an Acura 3.2 CL that all I could see was the top half of her hood and her windshield-did I mention she was on her cell phone? Anyway, I reach a stop sign at the bottom of the road. I wait approx 5 sec for traffic to clear, and as I get ready to take my left, WHAM! The idiot ran into me AFTER i had been stopped for 5 seconds! I pull over, as does she. We exit our vehicles, I identify myself (also had my badge and gun on my belt), and we inspect the damage. It just appears to be scratches, so I tell her to wait while I call 911 to get a County deputy to respond. The next thing I know, she takes off! I don't have her name, plate or anything, so I chase after her and have to pass two cars on a two-lane road to catch her, while on the phone to our local dispatch. I catch her at a red light, and contact her. I told her to pull off the first exit when we got on the hwy, and wait for me and a deputy. She agrees, but does not do so. I finally got her to pull over, and re-contacted her. One of my Sgts. and a fellow officer respond, along with three county units. Turns out she is 17, with only a learner's permit, questionable insurance, a 20 year-old husband (who responded later in his own vehicle), and she said "I didn't know I had to stop!" Oh yes, she is unemployed, her husband works for a cabinet maker. She was driving an '03 3.2 CL-S with fullnav system, leather, tint, wheels, etc, and he was driving a brand-new Z71 GMC with a 6" suspension lift-now I ask-does cabinet making pay that well-didn't think so...
Oh, and the best part-while her insurance did agree to cover my claim-scratched rear bumper cover, they're re-shooting it-her husband is now claiming that he was the driver! The guy must be an idiot-6 l.e. officers contacted her as the driver and sole occupant of the 3.2, and he arrives after the fact, and he thinks that will fly-wrong! The good part is that the deputy not only wrote her for no valid license w/o ID (misdemeanor) and leaving the scene and following too close (infractions), he also wrote the husband for allowing an unlicensed minor to drive (misdemeanor or gross misdemeanor)! I love it!
I thought you guys might like that story. The good news is that I wasn't hurt, my SS will be good as new with minimal repairs, and I caught her so she could pay for it all-All's well that ends well...

Holy crap, man. That would definitely piss me off. I'm surprised you didn't arrest her yourself. (Or could you?) Man, some people just have the mind set that they can get away with anything, as I'm sure you are very familiar with given your profession. Anyway, glad you are ok and that you kept her from getting away with it. Where are you located? I am very interested in testing to get on with a dept, just have to wait until I move back from Canada to Texas next year. (Originally from Texas...married a Canadian Girl) Got any tips for me?
