  • Cheapest-Biggest Horsepower gain

    I know everyone as talked about it before.. I cant find it in any post lately. I have high school drags coming up. Ill tell you what I have can someone tell what is left? BESIDES gears..I have no new gears still.. BTW my Z pushed 220k miles yesturday. 160stat Power programerIII. MAFS Elbow new wires, Borla, Coldair, 58mm TB. I think thats it...but. My car needs transmission work would it be good to put a 2800 stall torque converter in it? or headers? or Cam n heads? i have enough money for all...

    Based on what I see, you have a TB that is bigger than what you need, if the trans needs work and has to come out you may as well put in a converter, trans cooler and shift kit while it gets attention. At the same time, replace the rear main seal. You'll thank yourself at a later date. Since the trans has to come out along with a few other parts, you might go for headers and Y pipe at the same time.

      wow...220K eh? Impressive...sounds like she's still running strong.

        Man I wish here in Schaumburg we had high school drags. That would be soooo fun. But people are gay around here with racing. I would surely come out in the top 5 in my conference of schools which consists of like 10 or 12 schools. I had the fastest car by far in my school atleast.
        1996 Trans Am:T-tops,graphite leather,16" chrome T/A rims, Nitto's, Descreened MAF, Morosso CAI, hypertech, flowtech cut out, 1LE elbow, Silver BMR tubular SFC's, 160 thermo, limo tint, harwood ws6 hood, !side molding, Stage 2 trans.

          If money is no object, winning the high school drags should be in the bag. Freshen the motor with forged internals, stroke it, big time ported LT4 heads, wild cam, paxton hairdryer, 75 shot of N20, Built TH400, Moser 12 bolt, slicks, suspension mods, etc..... SHould be running low 10's.

            I was thinking more like Brodix 18 degree center bolt heads (reverse flow converted of course), dart pro block, lunati pro crank, carillo rods, JE reverse dome pistons, sheetmetal intake, huge solid roller cam, 350 shot NX SX2 direct port n20 kit, and twin T-66's with T-89 compressors with a custom 7 core sheetmetal air to water intercooler.

              high school drags is circuit racing it deosnt amtter how fast you go fix yuor trans so you can run consistantly
