I'd say a set of headers, exhaust and a good CAI should take care of it. I'd also consider a set of drag radials (warm them up real nice prior to the race and when he's smoking the tires for the first 16 feet you'll have 2-3 car lenghts). I take it you get a lot of cr*p from the ricer owners, I know I sure do. Let them think what they want, you know what your car can do.

        I know

I know he is a lucky son of a b****. He already owns a 2002 V6 that his dad bought for him and now he doesn't think he's fast enough so he's getting trading the V6 in for the mach 1 and his dad is paying the difference. Yes i do get quite a bit of crap from ricers being in high school, but it's alright because outside of town i show them how it is. (I have a lot of empty roads in montana)

Be carefull my friend...the new Mach 1 is no slouch. It's basically a Cobra without the supercharger...easily good for low 13 second quarter mile runs. You'll be hard pressed to get a stock 93 down that low without heavy mods. My lil' sis' Cobra runs low 12's on stock tires. The car has less than 4000 on the odomoter so she should pick up a tenth or so in time. Ford has really got their act together on the new motors and cars. I'd bet the Mach 1 would dyno close to 300 at the wheels, as the Cobra's dyno at 395 to the wheels. A brand spankin' new LT1 could maybe hit mid 13's (not common) but an 11 year old LT1 has probably lost a step or two. I would not be willing to bet money on a race...

With the new 05 Stang hitting the market soon, dealers are heavy into discounts and deals to clear the lots of the old model.

If I was in the market for a brand new rwd performance car, a Mach I 5-speed would most likely be at or near the top of my list. I'm thinking you should be able to snatch one up for between 20-25K.

Here in MT it would be suprising to see that mach 1 run even in the mid to high 14's though. Up where blackfire would race in Acton, I saw a modded C5 corvette (stock with 350hp) running 14.4 - 14.7, i never looked under the hood but the exhaust on there sounded really good, very well could have been cammed up. Elevation does a lot for 1/4 mile times.

It doesnt really matter where you race because both of the cars are running through the same conditions. IMHO

The 03-04 Cobras do not dyno 395 at the wheels stock. There are some that lay down in the 370's... most are in the 350-360 range.

With that said, I agree with the rest of your statement, I think he is going to need more than just bolt-ons to give the Mach 1 a run.

I think they changed it back to 75 mph.

                          speed limit

there use to be no speed limit in montana, but that changed quite a few years ago. I wish i would have had my license when there wasn't a speed limit. The speed limit on the interstate is 75 and 70 on the back roads.

A new mach 1 is only rated for 305 hp and 320 lb/ft. The supercharged Cobra has 85 more HP (a big difference). I'd say a few boltons would keep you neck and neck with the Mach 1. The LT1 has more low end torque, I'd think you shoud definatly take him off the line. That too depends on how bad the LT1 was abused.
