  • Quick question

Sorry guys, i don't mean to keep starting new threads tonight but i have a legitimate question. Why did they even bother putting back seats in f body's? My girlfriend can't even fit back there and even though she's kind of tall for a girl (5'6''), not many people smaller than that are going to be back there anyhow. I've been told it's for insurance purposes but i can't imagine this being true. Is there some other reason that they put back seats in? The edge of the rear seats are what.....2 inches away from the front seats? Somebody help me out here.

Where else would you put the medium Pizza Hut to go box?

Uhm..... try sliding the seats up some I have put some pretty tall people in the back of mine. If the front seat is far enough forward I can just barely fit in there and I'm 6'2".

Oh yeah, good call. Hahaha, seriously though. The car would have been lighter without it, when people you don't like ask you for a ride in your car, you could just tell them you only have a two seater and you have stuff on the passenger side, the cars would be shorter, etc. Why did they even bother?

Then the people in the front either ***** about being too far up or the people in the back still have barely enough room. I've heard that taking the back seats out can actually drop about 30lbs That still doesn't really make sense to me though. Why bother having them there in the first place?

Stop putting your seat all the way back,my daugther has had no problems with the space back there when she was younger.

She is now 5'9" and can still fit back there for short hauls!!

It is also very handy for holding one of my slicks since only one will fit in the T-Top hole!!!

That's just it though. My best friend is 6'4'' and 280lbs and my girlfriend lives 30 miles away. If he comes with me, she won't be able to fit back there for that entire ride. That's just cruel. Another thing is that they're the only two people i hang out with and we usually take his buick regal which i must admit is a kick *** vehicle for what it is. I'd much rather take my car since it has t tops and all and it's a much more enjoyable car. We can't all go places together in my car though and it sucks! I don't even put the seat all the way back since i'm only about 5'11'' and i'm not one of those **** ricer kids that drives while they're practically laying down.

The two "back seats" are perfect for kids. If the f-body didn't have them I wouldn't be ab;e to have it! I have a 5 and 9 yr old - they love my car. They are useless for adults but not totally useless.

I agree with the kid thing... the f-body is kinda the corvette for family guys. You can throw the kid(s) in the back and take off on a trip. You can't do that with a corvette, or any other two seater for that matter.

My kids love the back seat. They can't see anything since their butts are molded into the seats, but my seven year old daughter just loves telling daddy to "spin the tires". This is not an option in a vette. IMO the more people you can cram into an f-bod the better. Why not share the joy? Who drives a f-bod because it is practical.....not me!

Every once in a while I have to spend some time in a back seat that is too small. I found if I sit/lay sideways with my feet in the opposite footwell or on the other seat it is tolerable. These cars just aren't made to carry large passengers in the rear. If you want a car to carry passengers that look at an Impala SS or an older monte carlo, grand prix, regal. They have V8s and can carry several large people compfortably. My first car was an 81 Grand Prix with a 350 olds rocket in it. I could fit 5-6 people in it and it would still kill 5.0 stangs (without 5 the passengers of course)...Our cars on the other hand just aren't made to carry alot of people.....I mainly transport my guitar in the backseat. It fits perfect .......Later

I think it's been figured out that 100lbs adds or takes off about 2 MPH and a tenth of a second to your 1/4 mile time. When you have passengers in your car, you can feel a decrease in acceleration. Especially since my best friend is nearly 300lbs. I guess i'll just rip them out.

                          I was serious.

                          Really.

                          It's a perfect fit.

In truth, I had to lose my Vette as a daily driver when my son was born. Think of it as a family decision....... 3 or 4 people don't fit well in two seats. It's a tough ride to share.

Someone could always say that Vettes don't have back seats, and ask why did they bother putting them in the f-body? Then again, others could ask that if you wanted two seats, why didn't you get a Vette?

                          And the endless debate continues..................

The backseats are small, but they're not that small. I have friends sit back there all the time and no one's ever complained. Its cramped but its not unbearable, especially since its only for 10-15 minutes at a time. And they are always much more excited about GETTING to sit in my car period that they don't really complain about the seating.

the seats are there to keep the car classified as a sports coupe.....4 passenger....for DOT and EPA certs.

i had to sit in the back of our hawk one time when jimbo (6foot 4" tall) was here from fla visiting.. we went to dinner..by the time we got back....i felt like a pretzel...im 6'. those seats are cosmetic... the person that fits in them cant even see out of the car..........hahahahhaaha
