This Saturday My friend and I took my brothers car to be Dyno tuned at Secret Services in Tampa FL. My brother and his friend just finished doing an SR20 Engine/Tranny swap on a 91 240SX. They upgraded the Turbo, huge front mount intercooler, injectors, full exhaust, Infinity J30 posi rear, shocks/springs, wheels (16") 245 tires out back 225 fronts, Electronic boost controller, turbo timer, etc, basically everything.......Anywhoo I had never seen anything run on a Dyno before so I was pretty excited. I also have a new respect for turbo four bangers. After about 25 pulls on the Dyno it was finally done being tuned. At low boost (11 psi) it made 275rwhp. At high boost(18.5 psi) it made 329 rwhp and 309 ftlbs @ 5000 rpm. Pretty impressive seeing how that is about 400hp at the the crank. The guy who tuned it said it should be good for low 12s if he can get good traction. Those numbers didn't tell the whole story though. When we took it for a test drive we found out this thing is a rocket! Even at the low boost setting(we've yet to run it on high) it pulled soo hard in every gear. The turbo spools up pretty quick and then just slams you back in the seat when it comes online. It's an awesome car to drive. It only weighs about 2400-2500lbs too. I can't imagine it on the high boost setting. I think he's gonna need some Drag Radials for the rear to hold that much power since the 245 street tires can't even hold the low boost setting. I never knew turbo cars could be so much fun
. I have some work to do to the Z so I can keep up with him now. Well just thought I'd share my experience.....oh and if you see a 240 with a big front mount intercooler look out they're faster than you might think..........Later
