  • NEED HELP FAST PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

Hi, I am having an engine coolant problem. Its leaking lol. I have been told by a couple of different people that its the hoses in all likelihood and that they need to be changed. I am ignorant however and dont know how to do that. If anyone could give me directions on replacing them i would be forever greatful. I called the dealership and they said that they could test and see and all but it would probably be down most of the day. Out here, labor alone is $95 dollars and hour I cannot afford that so if anyone can tell me how its done I would be much obliged. Thanks in advance!

Best bet is get a cheap manual from Autozone or Advance for 15 bucks. If your really serious contact Helm Inc. and they sell the factory shop manual for about $95.00

First start the car up and see if you can spot where the leak is......if its a hose - change it. Its cake. There should be 2 hose clamps - one on each end of the hose. Loosen the clamps, give the hose a good twist or slice it with a razor blade to break it free from the radiator and the engine. Put it on in the reverse order.

Now, when you fill the car up with coolant, you must be careful. There are a few "bleeder" screws - on top of the thermostat housing and in one of the heater hoses. Crack the bleeder screw loose and fill the coolant while the car is running. Let it idle and WATCH THE TEMP. Fill it until it doesnt want anymore. Close the bleeder screws. Keep an eye on the temp for the next few days. Dont let it overheat. EVER.
