  • is this covered in warranty?

i know im asking alot of non-fbody questions, but you guys are some of the most experienced guys in general when it comes to new cars and dealerships and dealing with these people.

my 2002 s-10 ZR2 just doesn't seem to have the acceleration that it should. i mean seriously this thing has 4 cylinder like slowness.. it has the 4.3L in it which puts out 200 HP which is pretty decent for a 6 cylinder from chevy. but the acceleration is just so SLOW. ya its 4x4 and has 31" heavy tires. but i have to floor it to get on the highway or pull out in traffic. and this is with A\C OFF and tailgate down. now i haven't realyl driven another 4.3L so i can't compare. but i wondered if something was mechanicaly wrong with the engine or something like that. and i was wondering if since its still under warranty if i can bring it in, and tell them it doesn't have as much power as i think it should. if they will look at it for free?? or would that not really be a warranty concern? cause it runs smooth and just crappy acceleration is the only thing that makes me think something might be wrong..

    My brother has a ZR2 I think , 1999 or so?

Its the 4.3 V6. He has some big tires on it,
and he can squeal them. He's got 3.73 rear
    axle.

You ZR2 converter is probably a lower stall
    that your Camaro.

But dare I say it around here, your ZR2 should
feel peppier and more aggressive than your
    stock '88 GTA.

The 4.3 is a great engine (my son's 95 Sonoma has 130,000 on it and plenty of zip still), but it is a v-6. My guess is that teh 31 inch tires (that's a lot of rolling mass to get moving along with larger, heavier wheels) are playing teh biggest roll in it seeming that you don't have enough power.

Idea--go take a test drive in a new s-10 with 4 wheel drive and see if you feel a differnece. I suspect you will, but again I suspecvt that the wheel mass is the culprit.
