Well having my trailer hitch cut off the car the other day I noticed there is some fluid leaking from the rear main. The mechanic at the shop said its the input seal on the rear main and that its not that bad of a job to do. The only thing I kept thinking about is why would someone put a hitch on a Z28 in the first place, but now I have to fix that seal. Has anyone done this before or have any pointers/tips on how to accomplish this?

I just did this yesterday. It wasn't too bad. Just drain the rear, and take off drive shaft. Take off the pinion nut and take off the yoke. You will have to pry the old seal off. I did it with a flathead and a hammer. Clean the hole, goop up the new seal (cost me 11 bucks) and beat it in there. Install the yoke, driveshaft, and put more fluid in it. I think it is a little more than a quart. That's it!
