Bulb to replace 96 z28 foglights? Or whole light assembly need to be replaced?
one of mine is blown out.. Is it a bulb, or do I need a whole new foglight? I just looked quick, and didn't really see a way to open it up and change out a bulb. Anyone know what it is?
No it's just a bulb. I did a search on here for my instructions on how to change them but I couldn't find it. It's kind of long worded so I was hoping to cut and paste. I will look when I get home and if I don't find it, I will try and retype it.

There are 2 plastic pins that hold the light housing to a bracket. If I remember correctly, I loosened the height adjuster screw all they way. The plastic thing has a head that looks like a capital I. Take a screwdriver and stick it in the center of the I forcing the top part of the pin to slide out. Then take a pair of needle nose and grab the center of the I and pull the entire pin out of the housing. Pull the pin towards the outside of the car first. The one towards the middle all you have to do is separate the I leaving the pin in. The wiggle the housing out. Then you can get to the bulb. I had to use a pear of wire cutters to slide the pin out. The screwdriver just deflected the plastic. The pin is sort of a reusable plastic rivet.
Look I ended up typing it anyway. LOL

Go to http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/fogs.htm There are very good instructions and pictures for two ways to do the change. I chose the second way in which you don't have to take the light assembly out. It only took like 5 minutes or so. It's not hard you just have to feel around a bit. Also be careful, when I pulled the plastic piece from the bumper cover I got a face full of dirt so you might not want to be directly under it when you seperate those 2 pieces. The rest is pretty easy though and there is very little dissasembly involved. Good Luck

Good find. I have seen that page too. Short term memory problems. My method was the first one. You can see that plastic rivit there.

I believe the oils on your hand can damage to some types of bulbs becuase of the glass being very thin. I know this is the case with theatre projector bulbs. Automotive bulbs seem alot thicker. I guess we'll know if the front of your car spontaneously explodes .....Later
