  • KUHMO Ecsta Mx or 712 275/40/17's opinions please...

Im considering Kuhmo tires for my 1995 z28. The size I need is 275/40/17. I have found the Mx's for $149 each and the 712's for 110 each. Either way these seem to be agood deal. I just want to hear other peoples experiences with either of these tires. Im really wanting somthing that will hook up on a near stock lt1 z28.
    Thanx
    Bill

I have Yokohama AVS-ES100's on my T/A, and love 'em. I bought mine from Tirerack.com (275-40-17) for like 125 each. They are supposed to be alot better than Kuhmo's. Great wet/dry traction, and they are wearing very well. I've put about 10,000 miles on 'em.

I've had several sets of Kumhos in different sizes. I can't say i'm a fan of them. The 712s I have spin easily compared to others of the same size. While cheap in price, I can't really recommend them for total performance.

I have had the 712's on my Z for about 8000 miles and they need to be replaced. Traction is good in wet conditions but I agree they are not the best for traction. I have the yoko's on the 99 and they have about 5000 miles on them and they are bairly showing ware. I will be going with the yoko's nest.

        P.S. The Kumo's are 275/40/ZR17 and the yoko's are 245/40/17

Kumo's bite.......... and not in a good way.

trust me. i know what im talking about.

i know tons of folks i advised them against getting them..they emailed me later for help. if they survive the treadwear to wearout... you wont get the handling you want.. the sidewall construction allows for belt package edge roll over and they get squirly on hard manuevers.

          just my 2 cents......

          but what do i know........hahhahahahaha
