  • hehe so tempting

my russian buddy just got a 2003 mustang mach 1 and wants to race me to see if he can take my car and he of course just spent like 20g on a car and thinks its god
i know street racing is retarded and pointless and i should take it to the track but wooow its sooo tempting

watch out... mach 1's will definitly give you a run for your money, especially if he's a better driver. they aren't the 200 hp beasts that the '98 GT's were!!

Stock Mach 1 + Stock 1998 Trans Am = Good race.
Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

      Current Ride: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT Limited - spec.B #312 of 500

yea its very tempting to race him and theres a perfect spot to do it a lil outa town so im thinkin about it, ityll be fun cause were both russian and good friends but as far as mustangs go my knowledge on them isnt that great.
if it were the 2005 mach 1 id prob be done but his is 2003 im not sure if its stick or auto
i know his engines smaller size then mine i think its a 4.6 liter and as far as weight goes im not sure i know mine is 3,494 lbs and right now were both stock. everyones sayin ill take him cause i have an ls1 and ive raced a few mustangs and really gave me a challange so well see. ityll be interesting

well just what i've picked up from all the flame wars on other forums, any mustang 2002 and earlier is gonna be a cake walk for an LS1. Once you get the 2003, the GT's are still easy but the Cobra's and the Mach1's are right about at teh same level LS1's are, to a point that what really matters is the driver and what kind of tires you're running. Most of the stories i hear though is that even '03 cobra's aren't that great at the .25 cause of their 50 year old wishbone suspension.

but heck even a '02 roush SC mustang was only putting out 380 at the crank. if you put a sc on a ls1, what do you get? like 420 hp?

If those numbers are correct it seems to me he'd hang with an LT1 and your LS1 will walk him, driving skill aside. Remember they underated the LS1 a good deal. If you're gonna race have a lookout for cops and other drivers to be somewhat safer. Here in FL they catch you Street racing you directly to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200 Seriously the cops have really cracked down on street racing. Would be better to get your bud to meet you at the track for test and tune night. Usually $10-15, no jail time, lotsa cool cars, fair starts, lotsa fun, and they give you a slip that lets you know what your car really ran. It's a good time all around and much safer......Well let us know how you do......Oh and kick some blue oval butt!
