Hi All, on another F-body site there is a guy who sells real nice looking LCAs and Panhard(sp?) bars. There are cut from a single aluminum block and he boasts that they are very stong and they do look great. He says they are a direct bolt in replacement. Now I now some LCA's either come with or are used with relocation brackets. Can anyone tell me what the advantage to the relocation brackets is? He has these on a mid 9's camaro and sent me pics of that car launching with its front end about 4 feet off the ground. The price is good and they look good. I just want to know if the relocation brackets would be better with another after market set. Thanks.

LCA relocation bracket question

The LCA relocation brackets lower the axle end of the LCA's to increase the downforce on the axle assembly and the lift on the body. They will generally improve traction by eliminating wheel "hop". A lot of people associate them with "lowered" cars, and the are very necessary in that case, but can also be very effective on a stock ride height car. I've found them to be one of the most effective changes I ever made to the rear suspension.
Spohn Performance makes a good set of the relo brackets, weld in, for about $65 I think. I have those. I personally would not be looking at aluminum LCA's for a large HP setup, although they are probably fine for stock and mild bolt-on applications. This car uses the Spohn adjustable LCA's and the Spohn relo brackets.... it gets decent traction.

Thanks for the info Fred... you are helpful as always. My car is a stocker with 298 to the wheels. Last time I raced at Lebanon Valley NY I experienced some hard wheel hop. The track prep sucked. i had much better luck last time I went to your back yard in Englishtown. I have been taking it a little easier off the line since then but I know I want to do something. I just ordered the Summit differential cover and stud kit though so LCA's will have to wait unles I can find a used set from someone I trust

OK.... let me get on the used parts bandwagon:
1 pair Just Suspension (they advertise in the Chevy mag's a lot) box-section rear lower control arms. Poly bushings. Painted black - some scrapes and a tinge of rust, but overall pretty good. USED. I think I paid $150 for these many years ago. $65 plus shipping.
1 pair Spohn adjustable tubular LCA's, poly bushings, grease fittings, powder coated red - excellent condition. These are currently about $155 at Spohn, but mine are a little different than his current design. They have threaded ends and locknuts at both ends to allow adjustment, and a large nut welded onto the rod to allow them to be adjusted. I am switching to spherical rod-end LCA's, and need the new design because the nut can get in the way of very wide slicks. These will be available in about 2 weeks. I have the car on jackstands - its been that way all winter to keep the slicks from getting flat spots - and I'll be going to Spohn's shop on Satruday to pick up the new parts. $95 plus shipping.

Should fit fine in the stock rear bracket, or in a stock rear with a "relocation" bracket.Fred
