I have never seen someone take the time to do all of that, even for just one car. That was a very interesting article and I am now definetly not going to buy Fram oil filters anymore. I have heard bad stuff about them but that article made my mind. Thanks for posting this, TraceZ.1991 Chevy Camaro RS (Is it plum or purple?)

I really enjoy when people take the time to study automotive parts in such depth as this.
If only more automotive related parts could be studied like this!

That site has been around for a long time. Years ago, they even had a letter posted, from a FRAM engineer, that condemned the quality of the FRAM products. Allied/Signal, the manufacturer of FRAM, took the guy who owns the website to court to make him take down the letter. He also "softened" his comments about FRAM, although he makes no secret of the fact that he thinks they are not good.
I tried FRAM several times, and had a problem every time. In one case, it leaked like a sieve. In another, the metal filter threads that screw onto the mounting block were so rough and poorly cut that they galled onto the mounting block, making the filter almost impossible to remove... it took several hours. In several cases, the can crushed like paper from the strap wrench.... and "no, it wasn't put on too tight".
When I first saw my stroker engine on the dyno at the shop, it had a FRAM filter on it. I told the guys in the shop they were no good, but they said they never noticed any problems. Two years later when I had the car in for some work, I brought my own Moroso oil filter. They said they had stopped using the FRAM filters because they realized after I told them that they were having problems with the FRAM filters.Fred
