fuel rail covers again

I got around to sanding down the fuel rail covers tonight. I used some 220 and its pretty smooth to the touch, but i doubt my tactile senses are accurate enough to tell me what it will look like once its painted it. I'm gonna goto homedepot tomorrow though and get some 1000 grit to do one more sanding over.

anyway has anyone actually installed corvette fuel rail covers on an f-bod before? I want to know if there's any kind of drilling / cutting of the covers before i go ahead and do the final coat of black and put the decals on there. also if anyone knows of a good how-to on how to install these things i'd appreciate it, they didn't come with any kind of instructions...

When you go to Home Depot, get the wet type sanding sheets. (do the sanding while keeping the surface wet). They look like black mesh sheets. It is much easier and much less messy than traditional sand paper.

The last time I looked they had it as fine as 1400.
