engine cuts out

the last time i drove my car and today my engine cut out for a hot second while i was excelerating in 4th gear. any ideas on what that could be? it doesnt do it everytime that i excelerate in 4th but the two times it did happen i was in 4th. cus i also passed some guy today and we were doing like 40 so i hit 3rd then 4th and i was doing 95 before i knew, man i missed that. lol. well any help would be appreciated.
