That's right! mummy and daddy 100% payed for, along with 60% of the other kids his same age living in my area! He can't drive either. And it's been vandalized by somebody. Silver paint over the gas panel, front hood, and front right light, kinda funny. Spoiled kids suck, if I want anything it's gotta' come from a J.O.B., meh, at least whatever I buy is MINE...

From a dead stop though, LT1 VS. WS6, what exactly will happen, given the WS6 is stock (I'm pretty sure it is) and the LT1 has a few mods here and there? I couldn't imagine a REAL spanking though.

EDIT: I saw a FIREHAWK fly through the light right in front of me today!! I almost peed!

Well, it's not just him. I want to be able to pull up to a red light and know I can take whatever pulls up next to me (or just keep up as a challenge), relatively speaking.

One more quickie: A 99' Honda Prelude with a VTEC engine, all stock. VS. a 94' Z28 LT1 with exhaust, rest stock, who wins? (dead stop, straight drag.)

i used to have a 94 integra gsr (vtec). it had an apex n1 exhaust and cold air intake and got spanked by my friends 95 impala ss (lt1). i think the 94 z should have no trouble w/ the prelude.

THis will never happen......one thing I have learned - theres ALWAYS someone faster. I have one of the faster street cars around my area - but i've been beaten. You may be able to beat most - but trying to beat ALL is next to impossible - and if you do it, wait a month because someone will build one faster.

ohh....by the way, if I was going to mod the LT1 to beat the kid next door (at the track), I would buy a TNT wet kit, 3.73 gears and a set of drag radials or slicks - dont launch on the nitrous or you'll be buying a rear end. If you do the work yourself - its under a grand and you'll smoke him - then tell him its stock

I live in Rochester also and I know one guy who has a built 1968 Camaro RS and a lamborghini diablo in his garage. I also know another guy that has a 2003 Viper. So, as stated above there will always be someone faster....

Well I can throw my $0.02 in.

I had a 93 Formula with every bolt on, except headers.
And my 99 TA, at the time, had intake and cat-back only.

My friend and I raced my cars at Tri-state dragway and every race turned out the same. He killed me off the line (I can't launch a 6 spd), sometimes he would still be in front of me at the 1/8.
But the last half of the track I would always come around him, and take him by a few car lengths at the finish.

The LS1 is a super strong motor in the mid-high RPM's, it would take quite a bit to get the early LT1 to compete.

Like someone already said the LS1's frequently dyno at 300-305 HP at the rear wheels the 93-95 LT1 is probably 235-240 at the rear wheels. Thats a lot of ground to make up.

and how often do you pull up to one of those at a light?

I saw an Aston Martin yesterday, I saw a ferrari a few months ago, but how often do you have to plan on THAT? For the most part, relatively speaking, it's a non-issue.

Nick , before you do anything else , go to the track and see what she runs . Then , go with the headers and shift kit . And when you get a bit more money , just strap a nitrous kit in there and fly away !! Let me know when you are ready to order the parts and I will get you set up .

After all the mods to my 95 trans am (just bolt ons), its about 2 tenths faster than my WS6. The only reason why that is, is because of the 3.73 posi in the 95. the ws6 gets better mph in the 1/4, but the takeoff in the 95 is killer.
Hey "95 Z28", I can give you a list of mods to help if you need it.
Also, a header installation is going to be a HUGE waste of money unless you have a bigger cam or better heads that actually need the extra exhaust flow. A header installation on an LT1 is gonna be a pretty penny, trust me.
95 Trans am-3.73 posi, 1.6 rollers, cold air induc. flowmaster, no cat.'s, power programmer w/ 160 degree stat, torque arm, bbk underdrive pulley, 52mm throttle body.

You guys are forgetting about the heart and soul of the LT1..........the cam.

A proper cam and full exhaust (headers+aftermarket catback) alone can provide 80+ flywheel horsepower.

Thunder Racing made approx 530 hp on a cam only LS1 with full bolt ons.

Granted the LT1 is a different motor but the fundamental principle is what's imnportant here......An LT1 can be made into a beast with just a cam, exhaust and tune!

I've seen an LT1 make over 470 estimated flywheel hp with just a cam, headers, cat-back, 52mm TB, a very expensive tune, and 1.6 RR's!

                        Guess who's?....................Mine!
