  • Better, but not what I was hoping for...

    I took several runs tonight.

    My best was a 13.1 @ 109.

I am now convinced that my home track (where I ran a 13.3 @ 109 almost completely stock) must have something funky going on with their traps. There is no way I am trapping the same as I was then. The car feels much, much faster.

The 13.1 @ 109 was on a 2.1 60' -- not too good, so definitely room for improvement. I also forgot to drop the air pressure in the rear tires, D'OH!

It's a long summer, plenty of time to hit the 12's. I just thought tonight would be the night, oh well

Nevertheless, I had more FUN at the strip tonight than I have ever had before racing. The highlight of the night was when a Saleen S-281 supercharged let a Ford F-150 run by himself, then he pulled over to the lane next to me -- basically calling me out.

We launched pretty evenly and through the first two gears we were neck and neck... as soon as the 3rd gear shift came along, it was bye-bye Saleen!!! I screamed out "YES!!!!!" in the middle of the run I was so happy... I ended up running a 13.3 to his 13.9.

I have said it all along, that car is nothing but an overpriced body kit and nice wheels... now I have proof

I have also been informed that my run against the Saleen was caught completely on video by a guy in our car club here at school. I will do everything I can to post a video of it...

Get that 60ft into the 1.xx and nail your reaction time and you will earn a 12 second timeslip no doubt!

Dude, a 13.1 with just exhaust and headers? I would be damn proud if that's all I had and my car ran that.

How good or bad did the KDW work for you? I see you got a 2.1 60ft but were they clawing bad and completely overwhelmed? It's just I am in the market for new tires and I am trying to decide between them and the KD. I would get KD in a second but it rains quite a bit here so I am in a little bit of a sticky wicket. Thanks!!!!

The problem is that I am making 345 RWHP and 360 RWTQ...

... with those numbers, it's a bit embarassing that I'm not in the 12.8 range at least...

I know that would be pretty easy for several members here, I guess it just all adds up to experience, which I need a lot more of

The one I took on is Saleen's middle of the road product. There is the S-281, the supercharged S-281, and the S-281-E.

You don't mess with the S-281-E. It has 425 HP or something like that... I believe the supercharged S-281 is around 360 HP.

Anyways, I test drove a supercharged S-281 about a year back just to see what it had, after I had heard so much about Saleens... the thing felt like a dog. That, combined with a lying sack of potatoes for a salesman (who told me it would run 10's) along with the grossly high pricetag (Corvette-like prices) made me very anti-impressed with that car.

MAN, did it feel good to smoke it!!!!

oops. funny how that can happen.

A set of ET streets will get your 12.9x. You will most likely lose a mph or so, but if it's ET you want, there it is.

Just as everyone has said...work on that 60'! Roughtly speaking for every .1 you gain in your 60' time, you'll gain a .2 in the ET. So if you can't afford drag radials or DOT approved slicks, at least air down your tires to around 22psi. My first year of racing I used my Firehawk SZ50ES tires and could manage a consistant 1.8-1.9 with around 20-22lbs psi.

Another trick would be to remove your endlinks of the sway bar, this will greatly help in weight transfer and give you much cleaner launches, along with removing various items (spare, jack, etc)

You'll own the 12's once you do these things

Well, when I had the stock F1's I was cutting 2.2 and 2.1 60's also... but now I am probably making about 35 more RWHP... so I guess they have a little more power to put to the ground.

I wouldn't even think about the KDs where you live man...
