  • Woo hoo!!

Found out my new motor is going to ship on Monday. So close........

Yet so far. My heads are still MIA at this point, at the machine shop getting re-worked to fix the problems that were discovered. I still don't have a camshaft either. Waiting on numbers from the heads before I can have a custom grind made.

Here's a question though. Anyone know if a McLeod Street Twin flywheel is neutrally balanced?? The motor is being internally balanced, so I need to make sure the flywheel is good to go also.

What did you end up going with?
Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

    Current Ride: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT Limited - spec.B #312 of 500

You should be able to buy the Street Twin set up either way... for internal or external balance. If you happen to already have one for the stock external balance, all you need to do is remove the weight. I sold mine to someone with an internal balance, and they just pulled the weight off. After removing the weight, I would have a shop verify the neutral balance.

I went with AP Engineering's "Cheap Street 355." Sent them my block to be bored .030 over, Eagle ESP Cast crank, Eagle ESP Forged 4340 H-Beam Rods, Diamond Ultra-Lite Pistons, 11.0 compression on stock combustion chamber (I'm going to be a little higher due to milled heads), Diamond Pro Select rings, Federal Mogul rod and cam bearings, Clevite main bearings, Re-used stock main caps, 2 bolt mains, new stock oil pump with a tack welded pickup, stock pan.

The clutch was already in the car before the motor going, and I'm not sure what the setup on it was. It's at a competent shop though, so I've got faith in them. They know the motor is coming in internally balanced.

I just can't wait to get the heads back and get the cam ground. Joe O is doing the cam for me, and the heads performed EXTREMELY well with the 224/230 XE grind that was in prior.

Joe Overton is supposed to be very good with heads / cam combo's!

That's the plan already set into motion. I told him I want solid 11's in full street trim, and he said "OK".

I'm expecting to see some pretty good numbers with his cam and my JPR heads once they're cleaned up and back from the machine shop.
