  • my story of the day

before I start, the guy at the car wash Im about to tell you about went to my high school and has had the exact same '90-something model nissan truck with badly tarnished, chrome and gold 30-spoke wheels, and of course the muffler cut off, since high school 5 yrs ago. So anyway, I was at the car wash, washing my WS6, and here comes the guy that works there and told me "nice car". I said thanks and he asked me If it was a 6 speed or an auto. and I told him it was an auto. Just by looking at the guy I knew what was coming next and sure enough it did." Man.....you should've got the 6 speed" I just shook my head and thought "great, here we go." So I told him (correct me if I'm wrong) that auto's are quicker in the 1/4. No there not he said-Yes they are I said in a mocking tone. "no there not and I'll tell you why........I had a Z28...........it was a 6 speed...........(notice the long pauses, I just wish you guys could've heard him "explaining" this to me)...with and LS1..........it was stock................it ran 11's. I was at a comeplete loss for words, I almost puked. All I could do is give him a "youre an idiot" look. Then he told me one of his friends had the same thing and it ran 11's too. I said "stock??" yep he said, thats why you shoul've got the 6 speed. I said nothing else to him and he finally walked away

You should have looked surprised & said,

"Only 11's? Bring it by my place and I'll slap a tune on it for ya and get ya in the 9's. OOps, sorry Bro, I didn't realize you're driving a beater Nissan truck. Oh well. Bring it by and I'll change you over to some naws and Nology wires & get ya in the 19's!"

People have no idea what quarter mile times mean. I get this all the time....."oh yea that car runs 10's". Give me a break. I feel like telling these people "If you were in a 10 second car, youd wet your pants". Most people have no concept. If you tell them your car runs 12's, they think its slow - but give them a ride and they think otherwise. Most people dont relaize how hard it is to go fast until they start racing and building the car to go faster.....then it sinks in - the fast and the furious is a fairy tale.

Couldn't agree more. Until someone has actually ridden in a 9,10 second car they just cannot conceive the hp and acceleration that is required to run such times!

I dont think its the gas we use, just how close people stick their noses to the nozzle while pumping.
