  • Oh man raced my friends mach 1

well this was an interesting night out
my friend george found out i passed my road test so he stopped by to congratulate me in his mustang, he said jokingly if i wanna go have a few runs against him and im like sure lets go
    george has a 2003 mach 1 manual
all the websites i go to its basicaly 50/50 on how these cars do so i wanted to find out for myself
both of our cars are stock and id like to think im a pretty good driver and george is a very good manual driver
we decided to make it best of 5 runs first to 100 and i have to say i was really surprised
the shortest distance i beat him was maybe 1 and 1/2 car lengths and the longest was prob 3 and he only got ahead of me once when i had a bad start but i still ended up winning
its good to know i dont gotta worry about mach 1s
now to start mods and go for the cobra

well at least my buddy has more respect for fbodys now

Mach 1's are 300 HP stock. Not to mention, you have much more torque at a lower RPM.

Those Cobra's are something like 390 HP stock I do believe, how the heck do you think you will ever manage that one?!

The Cobras throw down 360 to 380 rwhp bone stock, they are WAY underrated. If a driver can get traction on the stock F1s, he can run a 12.7. Normally they are very traction limited and run very low 13s... I have heard of their traps ranging from 108 to 114.

I would LOVE to take on a stock Cobra at the track with my current mods... I would probably still come up a bit short, but it wouldn't be domination anymore

My stock motor LT1 with a 125 shot has taken out a couple of Cobras, so I know you modded LS1 boys can handle them. The trick is finding one that doesn't have 16 pounds of boost and running on BFG's or Nittos. Around here, the only time you see a stock one is at the dealer. One guy had a pulley on his within an hour of leaving the dealer.

                We've all done it...

just remember Trans Am 98... as soon as you lose respect for the power that car has is when you endanger yourself and others...

No kidding! As an 03 Cobra owner, I met up with the local SVT chapter and I don't think there's a single Cobra there that isn't putting down at LEAST 450 to the wheels! I think it's just too hard for people to resist since you can get 450 rwhp for $1200 or so in mods...
