I don't understand....she wants a 4 door V6 or 4 Cylinder, and she's looking for power and reliability? You already have the Trans Am, Wouldn't it be best for her to get something you guys can rely on first? You're asking for reliability and then something that's sporty and a 4/6V and 4 doors in the same car when it sounds like shes looking for two different cars altogether?

No. No 4 cylinders! 4bangers suck. I said the only way she'd want a 4 cylinder is if it was making 180+ hp, and i dont know of any stock 4 cylinder motors that put out that much.

Why can't a car have 4 doors, be reliable, but then also be (relatively) fast? I understand we're not gonna find a 4 door 325 horsepower car, just somewhere along the 200-hp range (maximas, v6 accords etc). I think we're all desensitized as to what "fast" is... a 3,000 pound car pushing 200 horsepower isn't slow. Her current car (the 165 horsepower V6 mazda 626) is not slow at all, it is quick and agile and a blast to drive.

      I'm confused at your confusion

The answer to your dillemma is a Ford Taurus SHO.

That is a mid-high 14 second family sedan that can be purchased very cheaply -- and they come with a manual.
Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

        Current Ride: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT Limited - spec.B #312 of 500

Oh man, I KNOW! It was one of the first cars i suggested and she immediately said hell no. She hates that bubble look.

Check it out though... if i had to buy one of those three cars to race, i'd definitly take the taurus. too bad they are so fugly and i bet they handle like @$$ as well.

No, no, no... not THAT SHO...

The previous generation SHO with the older Taurus styling.

Those cars came with a Yamaha V6, and they are faster than the late model V8 SHOs.

              This SHO.

Your problem is solved... $1800 and it looks like it is in decently good condition.

NOW LETS TALK ABOUT THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE WHOLE CAR, THE ENGINE: IT HAS A FUROSIOUS 270+ HORSEPOWER 3.0 LTRE. 24 VALVE V6 THAT HULLS ASS AND IS SO CLEAN THAT YOU CAN EAT OFF IT. IT HAS A 5 SPD. TRANSMISSION THAT SHIFTS SMOOTHLY AND ALSO HAS A EXTRA 25-30 HORSEPOWER AFTER IT REACHES 4k RPM. THE ENGINE HAS NO OIL LEAKS AND DOES NOT SMOKE, IDLE ROUGH, OR EVEN SHAKE OR STALL. THE EMISSIONS ARE SO GOOD ON THIS ENGINE THAT IT PASSED THE RECENT SMOG IN ABOUT 5 MINS. IT HAS HAD THE NECESSARY SAFETY INSPECTION AND IS NEWLY REGISTERED. IT GETS WONDERFUL GAS MILEAGE AND DEFINITELY DOES NOT BURN OIL. THIS CAR HAS NEVER BEEN RACED OR ABUSED IN ANY WAY. THE CAR IS ALWAYS WASHED AND FULLY DETAILED EVERY TWO DAYS A WEEK AND FULLY TUNED-UP EVERY 2000 MILES. THIS CAR IS VERY WELL KEPT AND DOES NOT REQUIRE VERY MUCH MAINTENANCE. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A RARE AND HARD-2-FIND NICE DEPENDABLE FAMILY CAR OR A MEAN AND SCARY SPORTSCAR, THEN THIS IS THE ONE! SO HIGHEST BIDDER WINS THIS IMMACULATE RIDE. IF YOUR NOT A SMOKER THEN GET READY TO BECOME ONE BECAUSE CHEVY’S HATE “SHO’S” LIKE DOGS HATE CATS! HEY, HAVE YOU CHASED A FORD LATELY?

all i can says is lol. 270+ hp? All you 93-95 LT1 guys better be skeeered!

                FUROSIOUS!

Yep, too bad that the GTP is out...240hp stock with 300hp easily attained with a few bolt ons. 'and both Bobby Lebonte and Tony Stewart won the Winston cup in the stock car version of it I still think they are awesome looking cars, but that is just me.

270 is not far from a stock LT1, so I don't get it.

Maybe it would help if the pics would work here.

Its funny because that car only has 220 horsepower. Then somehow he's claiming that the 5-speed manual transmission is ADDING 25-30 horses... and even then thats only 245! This 270 number he's getting is rediculous, unless it has a blower or nitrous or something.

and just click on the ebay link if the pictures wont show up for you, you'll see why its even funnier. he says the car is in "immaculate" condition, despite the fact that the hood looks like its been washed with paint thinner. that and the fact that he says he washed and detailed the car "every 2 days a week", whatever that means, and had a full tune up every 2000 miles? i mean you can exaggerate a little when trying to sell your car but what this guy is doing is just funny.

Pretty hard to complain about the condition of the car when it runs 14 second quarter miles, and is being sold for $1800...

I mean if you want performance and price, you are going to have to sacrifice somewhere...

...besides, you could repaint the whole thing and still not even come close to maxing out your $7000 budget.

Sure, the claims this moron is making are a little far-fetched... but the car is still a 14 second family sedan with a 5-speed manual.

My gf's dad has to Taures SHO's. There pretty nice even though im not a ford person. You need to tell her about parts to. Accords arent to bad if something goes wrong but i believe maximas are. And at the same time...everyone says that fbodies are all the same and so blah. SO why does everyone look at them? Exactly. But the Altima is a pretty nice one to add to your list to.

I call BS on that Taurus. No way I'm believing a 10+ year old ford doesn't leak oil. I rented one of those in 87 and with 6k on the odo it leaked oil on my driveway.

I currently have a V6 Maxima and a V6 Accord and they are both good grocery getters. The Honda is hands down a better car. Better fit and finish, better handling and fast for what it is.

I beat my last Accord mercelissly for 185k and the only thing it ever needed was 1 clutch and 1 timing belt. I sold it a year ago and I still see it going down the road occasionally.
